Muscat, 6 May 2018: As part of the Sustainability Policy to enhance In-Country Value (ICV), Nama Group organized a training programme to thrive Omani electricians’ competencies and skills in the Electricity Sector. The training course, entitled “Electrician Training Programme”, was held under the auspices of Mr. Ibrahim Said Al Suleimani, Executive Manager – Group Human Resources, in the Group’s Nama Institute for Competency Development (NICD). Within the Economic Objectives of the Group’s Sustainability Policy, Nama Group promotes the ICV concept to develop human resources, local products, SMEs and ensure knowledge sharing through the Group’s initiatives and programmes.
The programme was initiated based on the analyzed study, carried out by the Group, to result into valued potentials to the ICV in the Sultanate. The training main goal is to enhance the participants’ knowledge and capabilities to enable them to meet the requirements of licenses needed to work at the Electricity Sector. Accordingly, the participants will be able to exploit the employment opportunities of the contractors, working for Nama Group or build their own businesses to work with the Group.
The Electrician Training Programme targets to increase the percentage of electrician Omanis and the number of Omanisation in the electricity fields. The programme to be presented for 75 participants, divided in 4 different batches. The training commenced from 6 May 2018 with the first batch and to be finalised on 16 September 2018 with the last group of trainees. The programme includes induction on electrical engineering and HSE, site training on Service Wiring, Oman Electrical Standard Course, in addition to other relevant subjects.
